Youth Crime Watch of Liberia, and the West Africa Network for Elections and Peacebuilding (Wanep-Liberia) with funding support from the European Union through the EMAM Project, organized a two-day Awareness Campaign in Jorquelleh District #2, Bong County. This initiative addresses some of the challenges young people face in the lead-up to, during, and after elections, focusing on First-time voters.
The campaign strategically engaged areas known for electoral violence, including the bustling Lofa Packing Market along the Bong and Lofa Road, the Bong Athletic and Social Intellectual Center (BASIC), the Old Iron Gate junction, the Duala Community, and the Kolita-worlah Community. Over 100 first-time voters and other community members were actively involved.

During this awareness drive, the team provided comprehensive guidance to first-time voters on election procedures and measures to anticipate on Tuesday, October 10. The informative sessions were expertly facilitated by Mr. Kabbah Kabbahwollie, a dedicated NEC Staff member assigned to Lower Bong County, and Abraham B. Kollie, County Coordinator for the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY).
Youth Crime Watch of Liberia took it upon themselves to personally reach out to 100 first-time voters within the project location, ensuring they were well-informed about the electoral process and equipped with knowledge on how to prevent election-related violence. The overarching goal of this endeavor was to empower the youth with the tools and understanding needed to mitigate electoral violence effectively. As a result, the campaign activities played a pivotal role in discouraging potential instigators of election-related violence, contributing to a more peaceful and harmonious electoral environment. This initiative underscores our commitment to building a Liberia where the voices of the youth are heard, and the electoral process is characterized by peace and inclusivity.
